Complete Home Shifting Checklist
Use this checklist to prepare the information, access and personal essentials that a moving team cannot decide for you. Start early, update the mover when the inventory changes and keep valuables and essential documents with you.
Two to Four Weeks Before Moving
- Create a room-wise list of furniture, appliances, cartons and unusually heavy or fragile goods.
- Decide what will be moved, donated, sold or discarded so the quotation reflects the correct volume.
- Confirm the pickup and delivery addresses, floors, lift availability, vehicle parking and carrying distance.
- Ask both buildings about service-lift reservations, gate passes, deposits and permitted moving hours.
- Keep identity papers, jewellery, cash, medicines and irreplaceable documents outside the moving inventory.
Three to Seven Days Before Moving
- Confirm the final inventory and report added appliances, furniture or cartons before move day.
- Defrost and dry the refrigerator according to the manufacturer's instructions.
- Back up computers and keep passwords, storage devices and confidential office documents secure.
- Prepare one essentials bag with clothes, toiletries, medicines, chargers, basic utensils and important keys.
- Label cartons by room and identify packages that should be opened first at the destination.
On Packing and Loading Day
- Walk through the property with the supervisor and confirm the final goods list.
- Point out fragile, high-value or already-damaged items before packing.
- Photograph important items and note the carton or package number where practical.
- Keep the loading area clear and make sure children and pets remain away from lifting activity.
- Check rooms, cupboards, balconies and storage spaces before the vehicle leaves.
At Delivery
- Be available with keys, building permission and the final unloading location.
- Count major packages and inspect visible condition before signing delivery documents.
- Report a missing or visibly damaged item promptly and preserve photos and written records.
- Open essential cartons first and verify appliances before disposing of protective packaging.
- Keep the quotation, inventory, payment receipts and delivery acknowledgement together.
